The Advantage is developing its research offer, listening to and engaging with local communities. We hope to bring a sense of dynamism and strategic insight into this area. The company has extensive experience of working with population groups who may be underrepresented.
Currently we are working on a project for West Sussex County Council and Worthing Council for Voluntary Service which is looking into volunteering within the Worthing Community. This project is ongoing but amongst the findings so far, we have found that volunteering makes a big (and probably underestimated!) contribution to the life of the community and that volunteers value what they do for a multitude of reasons: fulfilment, socialising, belief in a cause, as well as keeping active and healthy.
The next stage of the research will concentrate on non-volunteers, exploring the most effective ways of communicating volunteering to them with the aim of developing strategies to grow the number of volunteers in Worthing.
